The dish 508 system is packed full of practical features

The dish 508 system features an advanced standard definition DISH Network receiver with an internal hard drive for up to 60 hours of digital video recording. An expansion port allows the 508 to be upgraded for additional recording capabilities. In addition, Dish Interactive lets you get Instant Weather now, with many more interactive features on the way.

The dish 508 standard features include:

  • Program Information - such as start time, ending time, when available and a brief description about the program
  • Transparent Info Pages - allows continued viewing of a program while information about the program is displayed
  • Convenient channel navigation using: Themes Lists (Movies, Sports, News/Business, Family/Children, Education, Series/Specials, Music/Arts, Religious) Favorites Lists (All Channels, All Subscribed channels, and four user-defined lists with increased channel storage)
  • Music Titles displays title, artist, album and label of song being played on music channels
  • V-chip Type Technology provides Parental Control over access to programming based on Channels, Ratings and Content

DISH Instant Weather is FREE to Dish Network subscribers and includes a favorites list for storing one local city and 5 additional cities.
  • 2 EPG display options: Full-Screen EPG displays 6 lines of channel listings with current time, date and channel number and the Picture-in-Guide EPG gives you 4 lines of channel listings on a 1/2 screen display, current time, date, and channel number on a 1/4 screen display and 1/4 TV picture.

  • Separate locks for adult and PPV channels
  • Infrared (IR) Blast - allows receiver to send IR commands to a VCR to activate and stop recording of a program
