Every installation company has its own standard installation definition and may vary from this example. When you purchase a DirecTV or DISH Network system, you should be told at that time what is and is not included in your standard installation. Should you request or require an installation that exceeds the definition of a standard installation you should go over all potential charges with the install technician during the scheduling phone call. If the person who is scheduling the installation date and time is not the technician who will be performing the work, you can request that the technician call you before they come out. Additional charges are usually required for nonstandard work.

    Common nonstandard charges are:

  • Installing telephone jacks.
  • Connecting additional TV's to the satellite receiver.>
  • Routing cable though a wall (wall fish).
  • Custom cable routing.
  • satellite dish installation on a high, steep pitch or hazardous roof.
  • Installing a satellite dish on a ground pole mount. Cable trenching.
  • Interfacing the satellite receiver to home theater system.
  • HDTV setup and education.
  • Custom programing.
  • Extensive customer education beyond 20 minutes.
  • Most DBS technicians are only paid for the time and materials to perform a standard install. If your system requirements call for a nonstandard installation your DBS technician will discuss with you all additional charges before the installation begins.
