All dishnetwork cards are unique to the user

It is important to have one of the dishnetwork cards if you want to take advantage of the wonderful Dish Network program packages on offer. Dish Network gives each subscriber a unique number that is registered on the card meaning programs cannot be accessed by anyone else. This makes it impossible to sell the card to anyone else.

If you do decide to sell your satellite system to someone else then the buyer will need to spend about $100 and purchase one of their own dishnetwork cards from Dish Network. Alternatively if the card is still in good condition the buyer can return it to Dish Network and get a $60 rebate. It is important to remember to call Dish Network and have your card deactivated before you sell your system.

If you surf the net you will may across alternatives to dishnetwork cards these are often referred to as DSS test cards. Beware of these because they are illegal and don’t always work properly. Besides they cost $400+ so they are not cheap and they need to be reprogrammed every 6 months. Therefore it is much better and safer to purchase the cards directly from Dish Network where the card is guaranteed.
